We are thrilled to announce that Guernsey's Better Journeys Project has joined forces with The Alternative Transport Week in Jersey and in 2025 their annual week’s challenge, and Jersey Non Profit Organisation, will be renamed the Better Journeys Week.  The Guernsey charity will now be known as The Better Journeys Project Jersey and Guernsey.

The two sustainable transport organisations have already worked together successfully for two years now promoting the week’s challenge and we’re looking forward to building on that collaboration.

Both charities aim to encourage people to travel more sustainably on Island roads, whether on foot, by bike, by bus or car-pooling.

As part of the collaboration, The Better Journeys Project will start to run their ”Better Journeys Days” on the first Friday of each month in Jersey during 2025.

The changes will mean new branding in both islands, a new website www.betterjourneys.life and a bigger, better pan-island approach to the charity and NPO’s activities.

Kate Huntington who originally set-up ATW in Jersey and who is now on the Better Journeys Committee said, “Introducing the Better Journeys Project to Jersey is the natural progression for islanders to build on their successes during the newly named Better Journeys Week into continue the challenge throughout the year. With small steps comes the big impact of reducing car dependent travel in Jersey.”

Rollo de Sausmarez who has been involved in Better Journeys Project in Guernsey from the start said “Together we’re stronger. We’re taking the best of both organisations to drive more sustainable transport options across both Jersey and Guernsey.”

The new pan-channel Islands initiative is also looking to secure new corporate sponsorship from progressive businesses who would like to demonstrate care for their islands.

The dates for the newly renamed Better Journeys Week in 2025 are confirmed as 19th to 23rd May.
